After the first night of nebulizer treatments, Jesse said he understood why people get divorced when they have children with serious health problems.
We've been extremely blessed with healthy babies, and this is by no means considered a serious health problem, but it's stressful listening to your baby scream. Especially when you're trying to do something that will help them.
Our first night started out nice with kisses for Sami.
And then it turned into this.
So sad.
We both ended frustrated, tired, and wondering how we could make it better.
Day two was exponentially better though.
They even left the masks on for stretches of time. Briggs for probably 2+ minutes!
We found an episode of Super Why to entertain and let the nebulizing party start.
This is Briggs and he seriously just sat there and let me do the whole treatment on him.
I think he pulled at the mask twice.
Angel child.
We are pictureless on Ian because both of us were required to be active participants during part of it. He was seriously a champ though and only fought us during the last minute or so.
We sang songs, tried to get them to watch the tv show, rubbed their arms, tried to make them laugh, and I'd say it was quite successful.
And I think it's safe to say that our marriage will last another day.
Oh man, totally been there! Well, with a singleton that is. Mace was hospitalized with RSV at 9 months. While in the hospital I mastered the bear-hug-face-mask-hold. But eventually the doctor realized the albuterol wasn't doing much for Mace, and that it TOTALLY wasn't worth all the effort. I hope your little bubbies get well soon so they don't have to use the nebulizer, and so you and Jesse can get some rest!
ReplyDeleteNebulizers are a blessing and a curse! It's no fun to hold a screaming, flailing baby while you try to keep that mask on! Hope they get feeling better soon, poor boys.
