The Parent Update

I've decided to switch it up a bit and do a "parent" update.

I don't know if anyone cares to talk about Jesse and I because let's be honest, our boys are much cuter, but just in case anyone was curious, I thought I'd give a quick update on what we are up to these days.

Jesse: Stays really busy managing three Noah's buildings in the Dallas-ish area. He spends a lot of time on the road traveling between the different buildings throughout the week but he's enjoying being able to network, train new people, and work more normal people hours. He is currently a ward missionary, likes to discuss guns with his glassy-eyed wife, and loves to play with the boys. He enjoys Dr. Who, My name is Earl, and may not openly admit it, but watches The Voice with me. He works hard for our little family and the boys and I are lucky to have him.

Danielle: Stays busy feeding, bathing, changing and wrangling the kiddos, doing laundry and dishes, trying to keep our home looking inhabitable, and occasionally even cooks dinner. She also works as a nurse on a busy medical/surgical unit one day a week. She is also a ward missionary, loves taking pictures (mostly of the boys of course), and getting kisses from the three men in her life. She enjoys The Voice, My name is Earl, and anything else that will result in snuggle time with Jesse. She can't get enough of her cute boys and husband.  

Best Car Ride Ever

On our way to the Halloween Party, the boys were chatting with each other and Jesse suggested we pull out the camera.

And oh boy were we glad we did because we caught this gem.

Halloween

Our ward had a Halloween Party last night.

After a quick brainstorm we agreed a Superman theme would be best for our wardrobe selection and time allotment.  

My only problem was where to get glasses for our little Clark Kent. Of course when I asked my mom for an idea she suggested making them out of pipe cleaner. She's so smart. 

I just haven't been a mom long enough.

One of Those Days

Today is one of those days.

The one where one baby decides to be fussy for no good reason. (To which you later discover he may just be starving all day.)

The one where you keep finding rice cereal and carrots in arm creases, behind ears, up noses, and in eyebrows hours after breakfast.

The one where you need four wet wipes before you even open the diaper.

The one where they want to play with the cover on the changing pad. And one of them wants both.

The one where the boys keep finding each other from across the room and start talking, which you can only assume means they're plotting against you.

The one where you try to protect your child's outfit from the inevitable vomit, only to have him puke all over his brother.

The one where you are still in your pajamas despite it being 12:30pm and you're still trying to make it out the door. (But at least you showered today, that's a marked improvement from some other days)

It's one of those days where you just have to keep laughing so you don't cry.

And of course pray you finally make it out your door to run a couple of errands with two babies, mostly clean, and not screaming, in hand.

Bed Head

Somehow in the last couple of weeks their hair has either gotten long enough or they've been sleeping more crazy and they are waking up with bed head. Briggs in particular. It cracks me up.

Twin Mom Problems: Breastmilk

Sometimes, when you don't pump and your babies refuse to nurse because there is too much going on and you're trying to use up other bottles before you travel, you can get EXTREMELY full. And you just may pump 23 ounces when you finally make it home. 

Yes 23 ounces.

That happened. 

Loving Food

Have I mentioned lately how much they love food?

Well they do.

Ian is definitely the messier of the two eaters at this point.

I think it's due to the love of his tongue. He just can't keep it out of the way.

He also seems to love the feel of it between his fingers. He cannot keep his hands out of the mess.

Briggs seems to do better at actually swallowing the food.

He also tends to avoid grabbing the spoon and sticking his hands in his mouth in between bites.

Photo-Shoot Attempt

My mother and I attempted a photo shoot with the boys.

I wish I had a video of us trying to take pictures.

We would hurry and prop the babies up, one would usually be grabbing at the leaves or grass or whatever else could be grabbed, the other one would start to tip over, and I would start singing the B-Double O-T-Y song to make them smile. I'm sure if any neighbors could see, they were laughing.

It started out with Ian discovering that Briggs' shirt had buttons!

Oh boy was that neat!

It ended in tears.

 But the middle was perfect!

All three minutes of it.

Yes I realize now that the PERFECT sign is in all these pictures. I probably should have pulled it out for a few but let's be honest, they are pretty darn close to perfect.

Who would have guessed that in just under fifteen years,

We lucked out and were able to see the Riches this weekend!

The boys loved being kissed and snuggled by their aunts and grandparents.

A Little Preoccupied

We've been a little more busy packing than blogging these days.

Only three more sleeps!

Only three big sleeps that is.

Plus about four more little sleeps.

And only two big sleeps before we see Grandma!

We are pretty excited!!

Easily Entertained

It's the simple things in life.

Rice Cereal

The boys got their first taste of rice cereal this past Thursday.
