Some Days Are Just Crummy

Some days as a mother are just rough.

You try your best, but there are days you just want to forget.
I had one of those days last week.

It started with making a pancake mess.

Which of course led to the removal of clothes and diaper changes and Briggs adamantly refused any clothes after that point.
I sent them outside figuring it would be just fine if he was naked.

I of course did not account for the potential for poop.... and what do you think happens?
Yes.
POOP.
All over the back patio.
And then he stepped in it.
YUCK.

I scooped him up and off we went to the bath tub. And when I just started cleaning him up, my doorbell rings. It was people from the power company coming to pick up our old fridge that broke.
Great timing.
I bounced between my crying child and the fridge moving people and finally everything calmed down a little while and a bubble bath solved some problems.

As a side note, we are watching my parents dog, and she thinks she's a human.
She is pretty easy to be around, but Briggs decided to throw her food into her water bowl, I then gave his hand a little slap because I was short tempered and I have told him time and time again to not dump her food into her water. His little chin quivered, his lips turned into a frown, and his eyes welled up with tears, and of course I lost it. I couldn't believe I lost my temper with him over something kind of dumb and I just cried. And then got on my knees and prayed for patience to make it through the day.

By this time it was nearly nap time and boy was I ready for them to sleep because I was exhausted myself. And of course the boys would not nap. They got out of their beds 40 times and we gave up for a little while, until I forced them to nap around 3pm. It was so necessary that day.

After the late nap, we had to burn off some energy so we went to the park where the boys found a huge puddle and had to jump.

They can catch some serious air.

Thankfully, after I laid the boys down for bed, I knew that the next day would be a new day and we could start again.

Sundays

Today was a rough morning.
Well who are we kidding, most Sundays seem to be rough.

I stayed up a little late Saturday night putting the final touches on my lesson and then slept awfully with nightmares throughout the night. Of course Briggs woke up at 6:00am so I had a lovely early wake up call. And Ian woke up on the wrong side of the bed and was grumpy as could be. Oh and did I mention that Jesse is gone today so I was outnumbered?

So you would think with a 6am wake up we could have easily made it to church by 9am, but no way, we were about 15 minutes late.
But boy did they look cute.

We survived sacrament meeting with the help of my aunt and uncle and their family and quickly sent the boys off to their nursery class so I could enjoy class myself.
I wore this cute sparkly shirt and my new pencil skirt and I got the privilege of teaching in Relief Society.
My lesson was on the Temple.
I had tons of material prepared but ended up barely following my notes and I pretty much cried through the entire lesson.
I have been so weepy lately, I blame it on Jesse being gone, but maybe it is just because the spirit hit me today.

I was reminded of how much I love the Temple and treasure the lessons learned there. I know it is a place of hope, peace, inspiration, and light and that it is a place to grow closer to God. I know that my family can be together forever because of the promises we have made in the Temple. I feel so blessed.

Once church was over I raced home with grumpy boys, tried to take pictures with them because they were still so darn cute despite the screams, and attempted to shove some food in their face before nap time.

I got part of a sandwich in Ian before he requested his bed and some snuggling, and Briggs just curled up and went to sleep without lunch.
Nap time was needed by everyone today.

After working nearly every Sunday over the past couple of months, it was a welcomed relief to feel the spirit at church today and even my grumpy two year olds couldn't detract from that today.

St George Boating

The day after the wedding we hit the Sand Hollow.
It's always heavenly to spend a day at the lake.
I always play like I'm still 17, and for the next few days I can barely move one leg in front of another or lift my arms.
Totally worth it.

{The boys loved jumping in off the boat. They would jump in to me and then my dad would help scoop them up and out. It was a tricky job}

Fun had by all.
