Utah: Part II

After our day at the lake and Instacare, we still had fun things going on that night and the couple of days that followed in St. George before traveling up to Provo.

Briggs shucked corn with grandma and thought it was the greatest thing ever. He was such a good helper. He would help pull off the husks and always made sure they made it into the garbage.

Since this video was made, I have been educated that you "shuck" corn and not "husk" it as I say in the video. I apologize for the misuse of the term.

He was particularly excited when he finally got to eat some of it!

We also saw my awesome high school friend Ashley and her sweet husband Brad and their chubby little baby.

Being the picture nazi I am, I had to get one of all of us, including our super sick Ian who didn't even want to move off the couch. It's all for the sake of a picture!
{As a side note, we have another friend Haylee (who we saw later in the week) and all three of us had little boys within a year! Some day I hope we can actually get together and see our FOUR little boys run around together! I just love it!}

And once again, due to the picture nazi in me, we had an impromptu photo shoot with her handsome little guy!
He's just too dang cute. We took about 200 pictures in maybe 15 minutes and he was adorable in nearly every one. Trust me, it was hard to narrow it down to just a few.

And aren't those rolls the best!?

Poor Ian was such a good sport. He was so sick. But the three of them were just too cute.

On Sunday, Ian was was feeling a little better and got to play some scum with us.

As did Briggs.

We also went up to the park by the old airport and played.

The boys had to share because there was only one swing, but they didn't seem to mind.
{Briggs in blue, Ian in orange.}

 We threw a boomerang around.
Although it mostly ended up in trees.

In fact, so much so, that when Briggs finally got his hands on it, he just held it up towards the trees! haha!

And then we played some bocce ball.
And it was funny taking pictures of bocce ball, since all the pictures look exactly like these two!

And if you stage it, like this one.

The boys of course loved the balls.

Briggs even joined in the fun. And he looked so darn cute following them around I couldn't help but snap a few, or ten, pictures.

And Ian hung out in his favorite place, with his ball.
The cuteness runneth over.

Sometimes this is what happens when your uncle tries to help you take your sweatshirt off.

The boys loved any project Grandma had for them. They really enjoyed picking up berries and putting them in the bin.

And sweeping/raking any ones they missed.

My handsome little Ian

And Briggs was too obsessed with his plunger to give me any model pictures.

After a fun few days in St. George, we kissed everyone goodbye, left this view, and journeyed up to Provo to spend time with Jesse's family.

Fortunately my mom is a genius and jimmy-rigged this little dvd player up on the headrest so both the boys could watch movies on our 4+ hour drive.

And besides one soak through Briggs had that left him naked for part of the trip... it was pretty smooth sailing.
{Poor kid, his parents should probably check his diaper once in awhile.}

We stayed with Mimi and Papa and they treated us to the park one day!
Of course the boys absolutely loved the swings.

This is probably my new favorite picture of Briggs. Him and that tongue! haha.

We saw and fed the ducks.

And fed the children too.

Ian cried when we tried to take him out of the swing to see the ducks. He kept walking back over to swing more.

Finally after several extra minutes of swinging, he decided it might be ok to look at the ducks for a couple of minutes.

This is the front steps at Mimi and Papa's house. Ian kept trying to hold on to that brick pillar so he could walk down the stairs, but as you can see, there are no stairs next to the pillar. So this became a problem on more than one occasion. The first time, we found him on his belly with his face in that green bush. We reasoned through it and figured he must have been trying to walk down the stairs, since neither of us had seen what happened.
The second time though, I was privileged to watch the whole thing transpire. We were on our way out the door, probably to go to the park, when I saw Ian holding on to the pillar about to take a step. I wasn't quite outside yet to grab him so I just hollered, "Ian, that's not a step!" but it was too late. I watched him step off, obviously have no footing, and land right on his back in that same bush! By then I had made it through the door and looked at him laying in that bush. I was waiting for him to cry, but he just laid there and looked at me, waiting for me to get him. My only regret is not getting a picture of him actually laying in that bush. I failed as a mother in that department. I just kept thinking he was going to start crying! As you can see though, that poor push is leaning forward. It took a beating in the couple of days that we stayed there!
It was seriously so funny though. I can't even type the story without laughing now!

And of course a couple of days after Ian's ordeal, Briggs spiked a high fever and started acting sick. Dang.
We talked about waiting a day to see how he was, but the longer I looked at him, the more miserable he looked, so I finally decided to take him in to Instacare in case he had ear infections too.

Low and behold he did not have ear infections! I was shocked. He had even been pulling at his ears. I can't seem to figure out these children for anything.
The doctor did say there was so much wax in one ear that he couldn't see though, so we decided to clean that out for him. I figured with how docile he was being we might actually have success.
They draped me and Briggs in towels while telling me that usually kids thrash and cry because it's really uncomfortable and everyone ends up wet. Well they started flushing out his ear, and he just laid there not making a peep for probably 20-30 seconds! They told me they should be recording this because even adults don't behave this well! It was about then that he started crying, but seriously, he did awesome.

That night we had dinner with my friend Haylee, her husband Justin, and their baby. We only took Ian since Briggs' was on fire. It was the first time we had only taken one baby with us somewhere. It was kind of great just feeding one baby instead of two! haha.

We spent a day at Jesse's sister's house, where the boys discovered a trampoline.

And Briggs loved their new puppy.
I found him at one time laying on top of this little guy giving him a big ol' hug.

We also went to the new Aquarium up in South Jordan with my dad, grandparents, Brad and Taryn and had a blast.
{B in green, I in orange}

Briggs was so intrigued with all the animals. He would walk through all the kids by himself and climb up to see the fish. He has no fear.

They also loved this giant staircase of course.

{Uncle Brad and Ian}

Ian wasn't quite as obsessed with the fish but we finally got him to stand long enough to get his picture with them.

{Brad, Ian, and Great Grandpa Dorius}

Briggs loved walking through these little tunnels they had, but he would run so fast this was the best picture I got.

At this point, my mom, Kadin, and Kylie had met us at the aquarium, because we were all heading up to Idaho the next day. As we were driving towards North Salt Lake to stay with my parents, I suggested eating at The Pie. Because no trip to SLC is complete without eat at The Pie.

We got the pizza that can eat you.
As well as a more reasonable sized pizza. (My family really likes pizza)

And that is where this installment ends.
Stay tuned for the fascinating picture tale of our trip to Soda Springs, ID to tour our old stomping grounds and see old friends.
