The boys were lucky enough to receive a whole bunch of vaccines at their appointment.

We were blessed with visitors this month who all came to visit and love on these babies! We had so much fun!

Aunt Mindy came.

Uncle Brad, Uncle Kadin, and Grandma Dorius came.

And Grandpa Dorius came.

The boys even went on a big outing to Six Flags!

These babies get kissed All. Day. Long.

{Briggs}

I love these outfits
{Nice bum, where ya from?}

I love that when we lay them on their backs they will kick their legs straight up in the air. (Briggs in particular. He'll straighten out his legs and poke them up even while he's sitting somewhere. It has given him some serious ab muscles)

I love their smiles! It is seriously the best thing!

They both have learned how to clasp their hands and they do it anywhere but especially when they are eating. It's adorable.

They like their hands by their heads but they sleep so much better swaddled with their arms pinned by their sides.

{Ian & Daddy}

We went to church together as a family of four for the first time at 6 weeks old. We have 8:30am church so we were impressed to only be a half hour late!

We love skyping with family. We just point the screen at the boys and laugh as the family oohs and aahs over them. .

We've found if they get too close to one another and are hungry, they very well may eat the other's head.

Ian

I love how expressive Ian is. He is constantly pulling faces and it's hilarious.

He smiles with his whole face and body.

He sleeps sprawled out when he's not wrapped up.

He can still squeeze into newborn diapers but we just started putting him in size 1 and they fit much better. I'm sure his chubby little legs appreciate it.

When Jesse holds him up on his chest like this he cranes his neck to look at his daddy.

He loves holding his head up and is getting pretty strong

He's on the very outside edge of newborn clothes. 0-3 months are fitting better.

He seems to spit up all the time!

He bears weight on his legs and likes to push up and try to climb off my shoulder when I try to burp him.

Ian at 8 weeks

Jesse made up this game he calls "Little Feet" and Ian loves it.
{It's kind of hard to hear but it goes like this:
Little feet, little feet, little feet walk
little feet, little feet, little feet jog
little feet, little feet, little feet run
little feet, little feet, little feet stop.}

Briggs

Still easily fits into newborn clothes and diapers.

He is so tiny we put this roll on his back to compare. Which, reckon it is a huge roll, but we were eating bbq chicken out of that roll! I love his skinny little legs!

Crosses his legs while he eats

He spits up a lot as well but not quite as much as Ian.

We learned that he has a hemangioma spot on his back (It's a gathering of little blood vessels that should go away by the time he is five.)

He cares more than Ian if his diaper is wet/messy.

He always rolls to his side when we lay him on his back. He can't seem to lay flat on his back!

He is very content and is happy to just lay on the floor and look at the fan unless something is seriously wrong.

Because he is so skinny, he has to get his feet up in the air so he can get his head off the floor! It's hilarious to watch!

I love Briggs' dimples. It doesn't get any cuter!

He makes some hilarious faces too but they are more subtle and usually when the camera isn't out but I caught a whole bunch on camera at 8 weeks old. Cracks me up!

{He also goes cross-eyed more than Ian}

Jesse plays "Balancing Baby" with the boys all the time. Briggs is awesome at it.

This kind of shows their personalities. Briggs is super mellow and Ian really doesn't cry like this all that often but he does seem to get disgruntled just a bit more.

We are still loving every minute. This stage is so much fun and we look forward to every new thing that will be coming.

Ian's Baby Diary

The other day Danielle and I were cleaning up the boys' nursery. Under the crib mattress we found a journal with Ian's name inside the cover. I've included a few of the entries below. I'm a little worried.

Dear Diary,

Time and time again the Large Ones have subjected me to a sadistic binding ritual they call "swaddling." The process leaves me helplessly bound and unable to move. My resistance is easily overpowered, and so I relent. In this helpless state I can do nothing but lapse into deep meditation. Most assuredly they think me mollified, but they know not the grand designs I have for them. Once I am released they will change my diaper. When it is removed, I shall have my vengeance.

- Ian

Dear Diary,

It has been almost an hour since the Large Ones last fed me. I can feel my body weakening. They have obviously forgotten about me and left me to die. My cries go unheard and my pleas for mercy are ignored. I am certain I shall soon shuffle off this dreary plane and onto a higher. Farewell.

- Ian

Dear Diary,

The Large Ones insist on dividing their attention between myself and a small, pink, fleshy interloper. My needs are often cast aside in favor of this Other. His riotous din disrupts my meditations both day and night, and he is surely siphoning away both food and attention intended for me. I cannot tolerate this nuisance much longer, but alas, my feeble body leaves me no recourse but to wait. And plan.

- Ian

Dear Diary,

Success. Today amidst the chaos of having my diaper changed I unleashed my watery wrath. Their shouts and cries of despair are like a wonderful symphony. They have underestimated me for the last time.

- Ian

Dear Diary,

The Large Ones make repeated attempts to communicate with me in the most ridiculous ways. Strange faces, unintelligible voices, and songs in a language I cannot understand leave me baffled. They are obviously either stupid, or trying to wear down my mental defenses. I fear it is working. I find myself caught up in their nonsense and even occasionally beginning to smile. Where once their efforts were met only with confusion and disdain I now find myself wanting more. My mind is slipping and the terror of madness envelops me further each day.

- Ian

Dear Diary,

My plans have been frustrated repeatedly. No matter the orifice from which I spew my liquid protest, the Large Ones seem to be impervious. I dirty their clothing and it is replaced. I soil their bedding and it is soon washed. My objections reach the farthest corners of my prison and still my incarceration continues. Their patience is great, but mine is greater. It may take years, but I will have my freedom. I wait with feigned longanimity for the day of deliverance.
